Summer Camp 2012

Call for Papers

The Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) is organizing the fifth edition of the Summer Camp in Macroeconomics. The workshop will last for two days, from August 23rd to 24th, 2012. We expect to cover about ten papers in detail. The sessions will take place at the ITAM campus in Mexico City.

The goal of the Summer Camp is to bring together macroeconomists from around the world with an interest in topics relevant to Latin American economies. This year, we are looking for new papers focusing on two main different topics: a) Modeling financial markets in macroeconomics, and b) Sources of productivity differences across countries.

The range of topics inside these issues is very large, including:

  • Analysis of financial crises
  • Aggregate effects of financial frictions
  • Characteristics of the financial sector and productivity
  • Banking sector structure and development

  • Analysis of great depressions
  • Barriers to technology adoption
  • Labor market distortions and productivity
  • Structural change and development

The submission deadline is May 30th, 2012. Authors of selected papers will be notified by June 20th. Papers should be submitted in electronic format (PDF) to economics@itam.mx. More information can be found at the web-page http://economia.itam.mx/summer.

The organization will provide for travel expenses and three nights of hotel to speakers. This edition of the Summer Camp is possible thanks to the support of the Fundación de Estudios Financieros (FUNDEF) and BBVA Bancomer.

Hoping to see you in Mexico City,

The Program Committee
